Ministry of Youth Development

Here at YMCA Nelson "Youth" are a big part of what we do. We aim to meet the development needs of the diverse Victory youth community & also those of the wider Nelson/Tasman youth population.

We do this via a range of events, projects, programmes & services based at the YMCA Nelson permises & in wider community settings.

Y-YOUTH

Programmes & Services

Youth Services we provide

In 2014 the Y-Youth services were re-launched after community & stakeholder consultation. We now provide the following services which are delivered by our awesome youth work & events team:

Victory Youth Services

Girls & Boys Night, Open access Drop In (3 Nights per week)

Victory Junior Raise Up  

A group of young leaders from Victory who come together to volunteer & organise activities & events for themselves & their community.

Y-Events 

Large scale events for older young people from Nelson/Tasman which are hosted in a variety of community settings & create opportunities for up & coming local youth artists to perform alongside major acts.

Senior Raise Up 

A group of senior YMCA young leaders that meet to organise, run youth events & activities for older young people from Nelson/Tasman.

HYPE-GS 

Help for young people at Events and in their Gathering Spaces features a team of very committed casual youth workers who provide youth specific health & safety services for youth & community event organisers & local councils.

Youth Development Training 

We offer a variety of short training courses for young people such as Audi Production, Event Management, Leadership, & working with children & young people.

Volunteer and Youth Worker Professional Training 

We work with Careforce & Nelson Tasman Youth Workers Collective to provide accedited youth worker training for youth workers & volunteers working with young people throughout the Nelson & Tasman region.
